My friend suggested reading a book of their choosing, and vice versa. The interesting title sealed the choice for the book for me.
The book was a good reminder that humans are still animals with a glimpse of consciousness. In simple terms, we have a rational brain and a body brain (emotional or gut). I think that separation is not talked about enough as it's not part of our daily thinking and language.
I enjoyed the descriptions of the daily life of a financial trader. I don’t know how accurate it is, but it was fun to read. The author attributes high risk and irrational behaviour in the financial market primarily to testosterone. He also includes his advice to see biological diversity in high-risk environments. While I see the connection, I would like to see more data supporting it, because that's a big statement. If it's true, that would have major implications on all areas of our lives.
